Late night

well I was about to call it bedtime for the kids, Then my husband called, he is at the coffee shop and there is a guy with a solar telescope and well, he couldn't let the kids pass up the oportunity to look at Jupiter and the moon. It's beautiful. We are having a good time. I am glad I pulled my sleepy ass out of the house for this. Some good ole' family time.

Yup, That's right I am vegan

For a while anyway. Trying it out for a few months. I am currently sitting at the coffee shop sipping on a soy latte' . It only been two days so far but I can already feel my body getting better. I am overweight and low energy. I am trying to kick start my body into healthier living and feeling better. That and I need to quit smoking and don't want to be more over weight. so here I go. My goal is at least two months.

It does not predict any immediate or powerful change, but it does predict hope and healing. This card suggests clarity of vision, spiritual insight. And, most importantly, that unexpected help will be coming, with water to quench your thirst, with a guiding light to the future. They might say you're a dreamer, but you're not the only one.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

Take the quiz

Happy Native American Genocide Day!

oops... I mean Thanksgiving.

We had good food, still sick but the food helped. Turkey was done two hours before I thought it would be so the last of the meal was made by my flying around the kitchen messing it up every turn. Now it looks like a pack of rabid wolves was in there tearing apart the place. I meant to take a few pics of some of the "food of complete awesome-ness", (yes I am so humble I know). But By the time we got all the china out and everything on the table the kids had been sitting for over an hour (by choice, they knew it wasn't done yet). Although last night I did get a pic of one of my pies.

now my kids have just settled into bed, and I have settled with my cup of tea. The kitchen can wait till tomorrow.

Blustery day

The wind is howling outside. It's cold and more than blustery. The wind chimes are ringing loud and the torrent is whistling even louder as it blows it's way around the building. All the kids are asleep, my husband too. We are sick so we aren't going to my family's house for Thanksgiving this year. I am up making pies for us tomorrow. The turkey is soaking in brine.

There is something comforting about making pies this night. A seemingly magickal practice of the night before the feast. I think of my mother and all of the nights she spent up in the kitchen the night before a holiday. How wonderful to walk in her shoes. Delicately making pies for my children to feast eyes, stomachs, and hearts on in the day to come. Eventhough I am sick today, I feel the warmth of this little act and the connection to my lineage.

The plaugue has hit my house. I am talking nasty nasty stuff. Sinuses, ears, lungs, all stuffed up, throat sore, hacking nasty cough, body aches, fever, fatigue. My house is a sick ward. B and I feel miserable. Luckily the kids don't have it ... yet. Hopefully they won't. B got it a few days earlier than I did. I was hoping to avoid it.. but no.

UGH.

My book is starting to swallow my soul. After a good week of writer's block it came spewing forth. Taking turns I ahd no clue it was going to take. Now it has a life of it's own.

Yet a little hard to walk out to in the pouring rain.

The air is crisp and wonderful. There is a hum to the season changing and the life preparing for the winter. The pulse is full of energy in preparation. I love it.
Due to time constraints

Our Samhain family ritual this year will be performed in costume. Two have dentist appointments on the day , then our dinner, ritual, and looting for treats. So as supreme Monarch I have made this decision. Besides what a better way to remember our loved ones and celebrate the begining of a new year than by having a rocker, fairy, werewolf, vampire, and mad scientist performing ritual to honor this sabbat?

To the dread closet of doom. We don't have a spare room or really a junk drawer but have a closet where we have been slowly throwing and store stuff in. So yeah... I got in there and went through it. Still have a little left. That puppy is getting organized!! Have two small boxes of stuff going to good will tomorrow.

I took my daughter to the optomistrist yesterday for her check-up. She wasking me on the way there how old she ahd to be to get contacts. I told her 16 . Yet after her exam the doctor told me she ahd 20/20 in her right eye. Although her left is so far sighted that she had no depth perception (which would explain some of her clumisiness). She also said that glasses in cases like this don't help at all and that she needed to have one contact in her left eye. So now my daughter does have one contact. Luckily our insurance completely covers them in cases like these. So she got a years worht of contacts for her left eye. I was suprised how easily she can get it in and out of her eye. It only took her about 5 minutes to learn how to do it. She has veyr long nails (she likes them that way) and doesn't even scratch her eye or anything. Of course we had all kinds of fun with cyclopse jokes and such. So my 12 year old now wears a contact.

Sunday papers

I opened the paper sunday morning sitting in my bed drinking my coffee. A DVD falls out and I was offended that anything like this would make it into the paper here in Portland. Called a few of my friends to see if they got one too. I am glad some people have organized to not accept this crap in our very lovely liberal city.

www.oregonlive.com/news/index.ssf/2008/09/noelle_crombie_the_oregoniando.html

We've been needing a new car for a while now. So we looked around quite a bit and didn't see much we liked. Barry's co-worker then offered to sell him one of his two For Explorers. We got an amazing deal on it and so far I love it. It's a little heavy on the gas, but we don't drive very often and the kids have a little more room than the other car.

My bed is old and worn out as well and we should have replaced it years ago. I was suporised though when Barry told me to go get a new one and he would be okay with my choice and wanted me toget the bed I wanted. This would usualy be something we would both be a part of. Though he really wanted me to have something I could sleep comfortably with, and I am the light sleeper out of the two of us. So I went and got a firmer memory foam bed (after shopping around quite a bit for a good bed that doesn't costs my kids future college tuition). It is being delivered today and I am very excited.
